Angels are Waiting

The stream runs slow, the waters flow

Deep and clear and true

I dip my bucket in the stream and fill it up with you

You look for angles where there’s really a curve

Angels are waiting here on earth

The brook runs fast and rushes past

Swift and gay and bright

I dip my feet into the brook and I’m looking for my light

Just stay together on your search for rebirth

Angels are waiting here on earth

The river knows, the river flows

Deep and clear and true

Another river joins it and one comes out of two

No need to wait when it’s a pleasure to serve

Angels are waiting here on earth

Contact Alert!

I had to change the message on my cell phone. Systemic breakdowns can occur at any time, and although the emergency has been averted for now, I'm still unsure why I would continue to invest in life in North Bennington beyond the day-to-day. I'm going to be 64 on September 10, not to be confused with the British numerical ordering, which would read 10.9.1957.

Libby B. continues to assure me that I am no longer a solo artist. (And that everyone has my number.) So does the Hyper Sense Perception and good ole intuition. The argument against these assurances is that anyone picking up the HSP as intensely as my experience of it would be on the phone with me immediately, just to make it go away. I continue to rewrite songs and establish this rock&roll persona of beautiful divinity. The latest phase of esoteric yoga causes me to see through the antiquated belief systems behind even the most cherished of classic LPs - but I was born to rock, born to dance, born to look and feel and pamper myself the way that I do.

MPL (open memo)

The Aquarian Age is finally on its own. Most of my life so far has been witness to the Pisces-Aquarius transition. That a band called The 5th Dimension would take the dawning of the Age of Aquarius to the top of the charts in 1969,.... well, even as an Indigo Child long before that term surfaced, I had no idea 5D would figure so undeniably plainly into my everyday life.

The Stellium alignment of Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn over the course of the moon in Aquarius that begins around now holds much promise. And my break from songwriting has been broken. This winter's batch already has a couple of potential A-listers. 120 people looked at this blog in January. They are all apparently, silently, collectively suggesting that I keep on doing as I do, not worry about collaboration or promotion because it is coming, and not even offer the titles of my latest.

In other news, Athena, the domestic goddess famous for EyeSwoon, put me back on her mailing list. The work is suitably impressive. The impersonal approach is acceptable as long as people who take my humor seriously do personally contact me ASAP. I'm not sure that Athena's humor and my humor blend compatibly - I'd actually have to get to know her, at least less superficially than this, for a sense of that. But if this is the best she can do, the least I can do is listen to her podcasts and appreciate her from the same distance as many of her other supporters. The meaning of our connection IS what it is with or without further exploration.

"Paved Part of the Planet"

I am empty with beginner's mind.

Making this a good time to reprint the lyrics to my debut 45, omitting for now the up tempo flip, "My World (and Welcome to It)". The songs took on lives of their own when Sara and Hester found them at the Salvation Army, dubbed themselves The Saved, and brought the old single to my Bennington College band. Their singing, dancing, and costuming made the SaveLoves complete.

The anthemic quality is lost here but the words - decades later, in an admittedly way grayer, more paved world, including my village - do speak their gravity without the music.

People asking questions about how we came to be

People are all wondering about what to do with what they see

People want to know what it means to be alive

People trying to remember for exactly what it is they strive

On the paved part of the planet

We’re still trying to decide

On the paved part of the planet

We all want that free ride

On the paved part of the planet

We’re still trying to decide

On the paved part of the planet

If god is really on our side

And with God on our side, there can be no problem

And with love on our side, these problems must be meant to help us

And where one finds no love, you just need to reach that much farther

Inside

On the paved part of the planet

We’re still trying to decide

On the paved part of the planet

If we have enough inside

If you have four wheels and drive by daylight

And a stable family

What more could you ask for

Than just to save the life of the trees

By the paved part of the planet
